Imam

Imam Mohammed Nawaz serves as the Executive Director and Imam at Madina Institute Arkansas in Little Rock, where he provides religious and spiritual leadership, teaches traditional Islamic sciences, and leads community and interfaith initiatives.

Imam Nawaz is a graduate of the renowned Jamia Nizamia in Hyderabad, India, and also completed an intensive program at Madina Institute USA. He has received Ijāzah in the narration of Ḥafṣ ‘an ‘Āṣim from his teacher, Shaykh Mohammed Safar, Imam of Masjid Quba in Madinah al-Munawwarah. He is currently pursuing graduate studies with a concentration in Leadership.

His teaching is rooted in the traditional scholarship of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘ah and the four Sunni schools of Islamic law, with particular emphasis on the Ḥanafī school. His areas of teaching and scholarship include Sīrah, ‘Aqīdah, Islamic history and the early Muslim caliphates, Prophetic character and spirituality, and building greater understanding and unity among Muslims of different schools of thought and traditions.

In addition to his work as an Imam and educator, Imam Nawaz provides pastoral and spiritual care to individuals, couples, families, youth, and community members across different stages of life, helping them navigate personal, marital, family, spiritual, and community challenges through faith-centered guidance.

He is actively engaged in interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and community relations, regularly working with religious leaders, civic organizations, educational institutions, and the broader Little Rock community. He also serves on the Clergy Advisory Board of the Little Rock Congregational Study.

Through his khutbahs, lectures, teaching, and community work, Imam Nawaz seeks to make the timeless teachings of Islam relevant to contemporary life, with a particular focus on Prophetic character, spiritual development, strengthening families, nurturing the next generation, and building compassionate and peaceful communities.
