Interim Imam

Imam Hamza Abdullah joins Madina Institute as the interim imam for the next two months. With a robust background in community development, education, leadership, youth work, and non-profit management, Imam Hamza brings a wealth of experience to his role. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is a Hafiz with Ijaza in Asim with Tajweed, underscoring his deep commitment to Islamic scholarship.

Professionally, Imam Hamza has served as the Youth Director at the West Cleveland Muslim Association for six years, and he has held various positions at Islamic Relief from 2016 to 2023. He is currently furthering his education in Islamic sciences in Turkey, reflecting his ongoing dedication to both personal and community growth.

Mohammed Nawaz is currently a full-time Imam and teacher at the Madina Institute Center for Nonviolence & Peace in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is a religious and spiritual advisor for the Mosque’s community and is an active participant and organizer of interfaith activities.

His focus areas include teaching traditional Islam in accordance with the four schools of ahl al-sunnah wa jama’ah, with emphasis on the Hanafīschool, emphasis on the area of seerah, aqidah, early Muslim caliphates, and interrigouls unification between differing Islamic schools of thought. He particularly enjoys training students in the art of Qur’anic recitation. Imam Mohammed Nawaz has more than 10 years of experience in teaching the Quran. 

He has received an ijaza in Riwaya Hafs from his teacher Shyakh Mohammed Safar, Imam of Masjid Quba in Madinah Munawwarah. Imam Nawaz has graduated from Jamia Nizamia, Hyderabad, as well as finished a one year program at Madina Institute USA.

He is also a member of Clergy Advisory Board of LRSD (Little Rock Congregational Study)
